Library Services
Borrowers include all the divisions of GratzCollege as well as
members of the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community, academic
community, or anyone doing research on subjects related to Jews, Jewish
heritage, culture, religion, or the Middle East.
Borrowing of items is free of charge. Videos require a $20 refundable deposit for each video.
Borrowing
is limited to ten (10) concurrent titles, generally for a period of
three (3) weeks. Materials may be renewed either in person or by
telephone. Overdue fines will be charged on materials returned past the
stated due date.
Video Collection
The Tuttleman Library contains an extensive video collection of
films of Judaic, Israeli and Yiddish subjects. Circulation is limited
to two (2) items for one (1) week upon payment of a refundable deposit.
Information Literacy
The Tuttleman Library is committed to the promotion of information
literacy of Judaic primary and secondary sources. As part of this
commitment, the Library provides bibliographic instruction sessions
designed to teach required skills to effectively use library sources.
These sessions are offered to the divisions of GratzCollege, as well as
to individuals conducting research on all academic levels, upon request.
The
Library encourages High School students to utilize our resources, and
will provide bibliographic instruction sessions to groups of interested
high school students, whether with teachers or independently. The
Tuttleman Library staff will also work with instructors to create
structured sessions designed to maximize student performance through
the use of library resources.
Inter-Library Loan
Materials not part of the collection can be obtained through
inter-library loan. Inter-library loans are governed by the rules of
the lending library and may be limited to library use. Photocopies may
be provided in place of the requested books; journal articles are
customarily provided in photocopy format. In most instances, there will
be no charges for inter-library loan, except on those occasions when
the Tuttleman Library is charged. Any charges will be passed on to the
borrower.
All inter-library loan requests must be submitted to
the Inter-library Loan Librarian; requests should be expected to take
from 1-2 weeks.
Library Computers and Internet Access
The Tuttleman Library Collection can be accessed through the Mandarin Online
system. Readers can access the system through the two workstations in
the library lobby area. For best results, users should also search the
card catalog that will remain in use throughout the current
retrospective conversion project.
Internet access is available
through four library computers. Two computers are in the library lobby
and two are in the Elsie and William Chomsky Reading Room. Word
processing is available on the two computers in the Chomsky Reading
Room.
